HCAF Briefing: Family Home Health Aide Program — Final Requirements & Implementation Guidance (Zoom)

Description

Florida’s Family Home Health Aide for Medically Fragile Children (FHHA) Program is officially moving toward implementation, and the finalized training requirements will have significant operational and compliance implications for Medicaid home health providers.

To help agencies prepare, HCAF will host a 30-minute online briefing on Wednesday, May 27 at 12:00 PM ET covering the Agency for Health Care Administration’s (AHCA) finalized training and supervision requirements, along with the recent approval of Florida’s Medicaid income disregard State Plan Amendment (SPA).

During this briefing, HCAF will review:

  • The new 76-hour training curriculum
  • Clinical competency validation requirements
  • Nurse supervision standards
  • Medication administration requirements
  • Documentation and compliance obligations
  • Adverse incident reporting requirements
  • Key operational considerations for participating agencies

HCAF will also discuss the significance and implementation timeline of the newly approved SPA, including what providers and families should know while the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) works to operationalize the Medicaid income disregard later this year.

Although the training and program requirements are now finalized, providers should begin evaluating staffing, policies, training capabilities, and compliance readiness now so they are prepared once broader implementation moves forward and family interest increases.
