The two-day OASIS-D1 data collection rules and guidance workshop provides effective, up-to-the-minute education targeted for field data collectors, their supervisors, and those preparing for the Certificate for OASIS Specialist – Clinical (COS-C) exam. The optional COS-C exam will be offered the day following the workshop (details below).
Experience the comprehensive and nationally-acclaimed Blueprint for OASIS-D1 Accuracy workshop and learn to confidently teach, audit, and collect OASIS-D1 items accurately. Through guided, expert instruction, and participation in problem-solving discussions and application scenarios, you can achieve mastery of the OASIS items, conventions, and the latest data collection rules through this workshop.
Rather than provide opinions, assumptions, or unfounded interpretations, the speakers will model reliance on Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) guidance documents and provide and demonstrate strategies for how to find defendable answers to your OASIS questions.
Breakfast and lunch are provided on both days of the workshop.
Megan Bernier, MSPT, COS-C
Megan Bernier is a physical therapist with a Master's degree in Physical Therapy. She has worked in the home health industry since 2010 as a field clinician, as well as in supervisory and administrative positions supporting quality improvement, regulatory compliance, clinical documentation, and operations. Megan currently supports OAI’s post-acute care work with provider education, guidance manual work, and CMS Help Desks support that provides guidance on data collection of OASIS, the MDS, the IRF-PAI, and the LTCH CARE Data Set. She has a passion and appreciation for the critical need for OASIS accuracy and is a knowledgeable and passionate national OASIS educator. Megan holds the Certificate for OASIS Specialist-Clinical (COS-C) designation and serves as a Post-Acute Care Clinical Manager with OASIS Answers, Inc.
Kerry Termine, PT, COS-C
Kerry Termine is a physical therapist with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She has worked in the home health industry since 2007 as a field clinician and in roles supporting coding and documentation for compliance and quality. She has over 10 years of experience conducting detailed reviews of clinical documentation for home health and hospice providers, focusing on OASIS and diagnosis coding accuracy as well as regulatory compliance and documentation to support Medicare coverage. Kerry is a certified coder and an AHIMA-approved ICD-10-CM Trainer. She holds the Certificate for OASIS Specialist-Clinical (COS-C) designation and is a Clinical Consultant with OASIS Answers, Inc.
Attendees receive 6.5 continuing education units per day (13.0 total) for skilled nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy.

The Certificate for OASIS Specialist – Clinical exam is a voluntary certificate examination for those interested in demonstrating and establishing their expertise and commitment to OASIS data accuracy. Administered on Friday, October 22, the scope of the COS-C exam is similar to the workshop agenda, covering Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines related to OASIS time points, regulations, patient populations, and OASIS-D item specific scoring.
Candidates who successfully pass the examination are awarded the COS-C designation. The pass rate as of 2019 is 77%.
The exam registration fee is $250 for first-time candidates and $200 for candidates seeking to renew the certification. Secure a spot by registering at least one week in advance as onsite exam registration may not be available.
